School Stuns Parents By Curing ADHD And ADD

Source: Preppers & Survivalists Central

ADD and ADHD are two of the most diagnosed illnesses in children. But more and more, parents are beginning to question the legitimacy of each of these diagnoses. With products such as L-Theanine gaining heavily favorable reviews on Amazon for helping with focus issues, and many people growing more and more suspect of pharmaceutical influence over these diagnoses. Ritalin and the likes are extremely profitable ventures for pharmaceutical companies. Additionally and sadly, for less patient teachers and parents, a medication offers a quick “solution” to an issue that may well just be a natural cycle of childhood.

Eagle Mountain Elementary, a Fort Worth public school, claims they’ve found the end-all solution to ADD and ADHD in their kids. And like L-Theanine, it comes in a natural form. The solution is recess. Yes, kids running and playing and laughing and maybe even screaming is being touted as a solution that helps kids who have trouble focusing in the classroom.

Instead of having one recess, children enjoy four 15-minute breaks (afternoon and morning). Furthermore, the teachers at this school attempt to get them outside even if the weather isn’t perfect.

“There was a part of me that was very nervous about it,” Donna McBride, a first-grade teacher at the school, told TODAY Parents.

“I was trying to wrap my head around my class going outside four times a day and still being able to teach those children all the things they needed to learn.”

McBride now claims that the children are more focused in the classroom as a result of the increased outdoor activity.

“We’re seeing really good results,” she also stated.

Even parents are commending the school for the amazing results, noting improved focus and behavior at home. It isn’t difficult to imagine that children who are allowed to exert energy, which breaks up the sedentary traditional school experience, would show marked improvements in brain function and behavior.

Eagle Mountain elementary is using a program called Liink. The program ambitiously seeks to implement more recess in schools as a way to improve children’s’ classroom functions. Liink believes that recess can act as a system reboot for kids, allowing them to refocus on school tasks. The American Academy of Pediatrics agrees that recess is an essential device that could benefit children, but it doesn’t seem as though many schools are currently adopting such revolutionary and common-sense approaches. Sadly, the lure of Ritalin may well be too powerful of a quick remedy.

Hopefully, more and more schools do eventually see the incredible benefit kids can gain from the simple act of playing. Our world is already technologically compromised for many children who end up mentally enslaved to smartphones and other devices. It wasn’t but 20 years ago that kids went outside daily to play, now they are hooked to texting, snapchat, and gaming consoles. That’s not only harming children’s’ ability to mentally function, but it is also leading to increased childhood obesity.

Being active can benefit children in a host of ways if we, as parents and teachers, would simply realize it. More classroom time does not necessarily amount to improved classroom results. The sooner we realize such, the faster we can help alleviate the issues on a national scale.
